About The Position

The role of the Packaging Engineer is to ensure the production of high-quality, well-packaged products that meet customer satisfaction and industry standards. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of quality control measures, the evaluation of packaging materials to guarantee specification adherence, and the timely identification and resolution of quality non-conformance events. The Packaging Engineer will support TWG innovation goals with pro-active research, identification, and assessment of cutting-edge consumer packaging solutions across all beverage container industries, gauging suitability to TWG requirements and capabilities. Packaging Engineer will drive the ideation, development, testing, and implementation of such packaging. The Packaging Engineer will effectively communicate and collaborate with the many TWG functional groups and facilities, as well as with outside suppliers/vendors, customers, co-packers, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within consumer packaging industry.
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers in a team environment and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s value of exhibiting the highest quality standards in all endeavors.
  • Computer skill requirements include basic MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to support the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Actively commit to and participate in lab and corporate safety programs, including following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Learn to recognize and report hazards and take appropriate action to keep oneself and others safe.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues within the quality team, the facility and across all functional areas.
  • Perform process audits, compliance verification and or package quality assessments.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving quality risk.
  • Support and participate in TWG’s Food Safety Culture to help with training, communication, employee feedback and participation, and performance measurement of the Food Safety Management System.

  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, strong critical thinking skills, and effective time management with the ability to manage projects/processes from start through completion.
  • Collaborate with QA technicians, Bottling Production, and management teams during packaging material performance investigations, facilitating timely resolution.
  • Work with suppliers to drive appropriate corrective/preventative action responses on defective packaging material.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop packaging prototypes and qualify new and/or performance improved packaging material, ensuring conformance with company and industry standards.
  • Support innovation with the research and evaluation of emerging packaging technologies across all beverage container industries, understanding market trends and enhanced commercial offerings.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills in order to effectively present researched information to management and brand teams.
  • Lead the evaluation of the practical and financial requirements associated with the adoption of new packaging technology.
  • Drive the implementation of new packaging technology, ensuring conformance with company and industry standards, while meeting or exceeding TWG commercial timing and financial goals.
