About The Position

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing packaging solutions for parts and assemblies, including metal/steel racks, totes, and vacuum-formed trays. This role involves creating CAD models, collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing validation and testing, developing business cases for cost savings, and managing packaging-related projects. The engineer will also maintain documentation and support continuous improvement efforts to optimize packaging costs and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging solutions for parts and assemblies, including metal/steel racks, totes, and vacuum-formed trays.
• Create and iterate CAD models, drawings, and specifications for both expendable and returnable packaging systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and program management teams to ensure packaging meets product protection, cost, and logistics requirements.
• Perform packaging validation, testing, and failure analysis; implement corrective actions and design improvements.
• Develop business cases and cost-savings proposals related to packaging initiatives, and support supplier selection and qualification.
• Manage packaging-related project tasks and timelines, ensuring alignment with program milestones.
• Maintain documentation, BOMs, and packaging specifications; update standards and best practices for packaging design.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce material, handling, and transportation costs while improving durability and ergonomics.
