About The Position

This specific internship provides hands-on experience in packaging design, development, and optimization within the sports medicine industry. As a Packaging Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with our team of experienced professionals to support the development of packaging solutions for our diverse range of products.

Requirements

Completed two years of post-high school education and enrolled for the fall semester at a technical college or four-year university.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, field of study related to the area of the internship.
Have a grade point average sufficient to be considered in good academic standing.
Strong interest in packaging design, development, and innovation within the consumer goods or medical device industry.
Ability to understand and comply with Mueller Safety Systems and current regulatory requirements.
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.
Makes sound decisions based on research, analysis, discussion, experience and judgment.
Demonstrated team player with active participation in meetings.
Strong planning and project management skills.
Strong ability to transition efficiently from working independently to working collaboratively.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

Proficient use of Microsoft products, including Word, Outlook and Excel, and related industry applications such as CAD (Solidworks).

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience or internships in the field or a related field of the internship.
Basic knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

Complete an assigned project requiring planning, research, prototyping, evaluation, presentation of findings and recommendations to Executive team.
Support the design and development of packaging solutions for new and existing products.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance user experience and reduce costs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to support packaging initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Conduct research on packaging materials and technologies to identify potential options for product packaging.
Assist in material testing and analysis to evaluate performance, durability, and sustainability.
Learn about regulatory requirements governing packaging in the sports medicine industry.
Assist in ensuring that packaging designs comply with relevant standards for safety, labeling, and environmental sustainability.
Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of packaging specifications, test results, and compliance records.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations.
Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
