About The Position

The Utility Specialist is required to earn and maintain validations in four positions (Packaging Operator, Sanitation, QA Technician, and Manifestor) and acts as a floater to fill in when vacancies occur. The Utility Specialist may be moved between multiple positions during a given shift depending on plant need. If not covering a vacancy or other plant need this position will work in Sanitation. This position will be required to work at least one Saturday clean up a month.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; or up to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills. (Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.)
  • Ability to retrieve data from a computer HMI (Human Machine Interface).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as formulas, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to understand and apply plant safety rules including, but not limited to the lockout-tag-out procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program.
  • Must be able to stand for extended time periods, occasionally climb on ladders or other elevated structures.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally perform job duties in dusty conditions, with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Ability to work safely in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and forklifts.
  • Must be self-driven and able to occasionally work in high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions under minimal supervision while maintaining position expectations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Able to analyze problems and ולהstrategize for better solutions.
  • Strict adherence to company mission vision and values.
  • Personal hygiene must meet company and government sanitation requirements.
  • Incumbents must abide by safety rules as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially food production, is helpful.
  • Become Forklift, Scissor Lift, and Genie Boom certified.
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead.

  • Know the difference between allergen and non-allergen products and follow the allergen separation policy.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety policies.
  • Performance of CCP checks and accurate record keeping.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including Lockout and Confined Space procedures.
  • Report all accidents/injuries and unsafe working conditions to management.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly stored when not in use.
  • Other sanitation duties as required to maintain a clean and safe environment.
