Packager (2nd Shift)
About The Position
The Packager packages finished food products at the end of the manufacturing process in a refrigerated food manufacturing plant. The role involves checking packaging materials and product dates and weights, sealing packages, inspecting products and packaging for compliance, removing defective items, and assembling containers on a production line. The work environment is wet and cold, with temperatures ranging from 25°F to 110°F. The position requires repetitive hand, wrist, and finger activities; repetitive lifting, kneeling, and bending with items over 20 pounds; and walking and standing for extended periods. Production demands may require overtime and evening or weekend scheduling. Compensation is $17.50 per hour plus a $1.00-per-hour shift differential; the role is non-exempt. Responsibilities
- Check that packaging boxes and containers are correct.
- Ensure product dates and weights are within established guidelines.
- Seal filled product packages and boxes.
- Examine containers, materials, and products to ensure packaging meets company specifications.
- Remove defective products or packages from the production line.
- Assemble product containers on an assembly line.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow company safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
