Samuel Steel Pickling Group (Samuel Steel Pickling Company & Nelson Steel) supports the automotive, fabrication, and appliance markets, offering a wide range of pickling services. Our pickling line operations offer pickling, in-line slitting, side trimming and in-line roller leveling while our stand-alone slitter offers narrower slit product and packaging capabilities.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective time management skills, able to work as a member of a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Drive, determination and ability to work both independently with little direction and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Review the Daily Production Schedule and work orders at the start of shift to ensure that all packaging materials are available.
  • Review production schedule to ensure that all work orders are available at the exit end work station.
  • Review all work orders to ensure all packaging instructions and special instructions are being followed.
  • Visually inspect the strip during the first 100 feet, the middle 100 feet and the last 100 feet for any defects and record on Exit Operator's report.
  • Notify the Line Operator and Foreman when defects are encountered. Record all defects on Exit Operator's Report.
  • Stay up to date on all 24/7 training modules
  • Analyze every job and reduce the hazards as much as possible before starting
