About The Position

Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the PACE Driver is responsible for directly transporting participants who may be physically or mentally limited to and from their destinations. The position requires constant interaction with participants, participants’ families, and staff of the Interdisciplinary Team. Full-time and per diem shifts are available.

Requirements

Complete an approved First Aid course within three months of the hire date.
Hold a current, valid New York State driver’s license, free from major infractions and acceptable to the insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Transport physically and mentally limited participants door to door to varied destinations in a timely and safe manner.
Assist participants and their belongings on and off the van and to their destinations safely and courteously.
Ensure participants have appropriate clothing for weather conditions.
Ensure participants wear safety belts and that wheelchairs are locked and secured according to policy and procedure.
Check at every stop that participants’ seatbelts and/or wheelchair restraints remain properly secured.
Maintain the vehicle’s First Aid kit and fire extinguisher, replacing supplies as they are used or become outdated.
Keep the vehicle neat and clean; clean the interior daily and wash the exterior at least weekly.
