Each chapter reports directly into its respective global function rather than a local matrix. As the Business Partner Commercial and Country Connector, you will operate at the intersection of this model. This role requires a professional who is highly skilled in and comfortable with informal leadership; you will need to successfully influence, collaborate with, and align a team of highly competent, specialized P&C colleagues without the reliance on a direct reporting line. This is a senior, strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the people and culture strategy for the Commercial organisation in Canada. This position requires the mindset of a business leader and entrepreneur and partner with multiple leadership areas in a part of the business as part of a global network. The position holds the additional responsibility of “Country Connector” with specific responsibilities for external system shaping, reputation management, collaboration with work councils as needed as well. In addition, this role connects and aligns the P&C ecosystem holistically across all Roche affiliates and legal entities in the country.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a strategic P&C Business Partner (15+ years) with a Bachelor’s degree in related field, including demonstrated success operating as a strategic partner to senior leadership
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale organizational design and transformational change initiatives.
  • Possesses a high degree of comfort with ambiguity, maintaining a grounded, reassuring demeanor that helps steady the team and maintain momentum through shifting priorities
  • Mastery of influencing for impact, with the ability to effectively advise senior executives.
  • Exceptional business and data acumen, with the ability to leverage insights for informed decision-making and translate business needs into P&C strategy.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to apply systems thinking to solve complex problems.
  • Business-level fluency in English is required

Responsibilities

  • Think beyond P&C and operate as a true business leader and entrepreneur and translate business objectives into impactful people strategies.
  • Act as the lead P&C strategist for executive leaders, using deep business acumen to co-create long-range strategies focused on human capital, organizational design, and future-readiness.
  • Direct and lead complex, enterprise-wide change initiatives and Work Product Teams (WPTs) as a change enabler, building leadership coalitions to drive meaningful shifts within the organization.
  • Provides guidance on talent management, workforce strategies, organization design and reward and recognition in partnership with other subject-matter experts to develop high quality solutions
  • Maintains broad-based knowledge of multiple leadership areas across the organization and its operations; uses knowledge of business and P&C insights, metrics, expertise, and decision principles to effectively diagnose topics with a wide range of complexity
  • Maintains knowledge of external environment and other related information on peer and comparison groups to effectively diagnose and implement strategies to help drive business decisions
  • Provide expert organizational consulting to executive leadership, shaping a culture with shared values and behaviors.
  • Apply systems thinking to recognize patterns, identify root causes of complex problems, and design more effective organizational solutions.
  • Champion and drive the agenda for talent management and succession planning, ensuring a robust pipeline of future leaders ready to meet strategic challenges.
  • Maintain high performance, emotional steady-state, and clarity of purpose during periods of rapid change, systemic disruption, or incomplete information.
  • Reframe uncertainty as an entrepreneurial opportunity and make sound, strategic decisions without having the full picture.
  • Foster an inclusive culture, break down silos across different business entities, and manage external reputation and stakeholder relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted coach and advisor to senior executives, holding difficult conversations and using persuasive communication to influence thinking and drive positive impact.
  • Act as a P&C Leader, navigating the full spectrum of people practices and leveraging the P&C operating model to connect expertise and solutions with business needs.
  • Lead, influence, and mentor other P&C colleagues, holding them accountable for results and contributing to the continuous improvement of the P&C model.
