About The Position

This posting is for permanent contract teachers, second year probationary teachers, teachers with recall status, and external applicants who are qualified for the position. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018. The SRCE focuses on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. With approximately 1,166 employees, the SRCE operates 20 schools and pre-primary programs, serving approximately 5,948 students and 375 pre-primary children across the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond in northeastern Nova Scotia. Hired or recalled teachers will be required to participate in New Teacher training if they have not already done so. The application deadline is June 15, 2026, at 11:59 pm, with an effective date of August 1, 2026. The worksite is E Antigonish Educ Centre-Acade.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
  • Excellent classroom and student management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Degree in Music &/or band experience or experience teaching Music.
  • Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
  • Provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach P-6 Music, ELA 6, and ELA 7.
  • Participate in New Teacher training if required.
  • Manage classrooms and students effectively.
  • Apply technologies to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Implement inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
