About The Position

The Oxide Mill Operator produces lead oxide by milling soft lead according to quality and production requirements by following work instructions.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Experience with safety and environmental training
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision, and management
  • Familiar with inspection equipment, gauges, and measuring tools
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Crown Battery Forklift License

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and following environmental rules, policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to identify and report product, process and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel.
  • Must support implementation of corrective/preventative and improvement actions.
  • Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment where required.
  • Responsible for day-to-day housekeeping of the surrounding production floor area.
  • Setup mill according to type of oxide to be ran.
  • Responsible for overall mill operations, including making appropriate adjustments, repairs or preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Contact supervisor regarding any out of spec oxide.
  • Contact supervisor or maintenance for any mechanical difficulties.
  • Track and maintain inventory levels and proper storage of soft lead and finished oxide.
  • Document environmental accountability for mill operations.
  • Understand, monitor, adjust, and interpret gauges and instruments: Lead flow, Air flow, Water flow, Temperature.
  • Perform visual/audible inspection of operation and control/perform analytic tests: Free lead content, Acid absorption, Apparent density, Wet sieve analysis, Hourly lead usage.
  • Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.
