About The Position

The Owner Relations Analyst serves as a primary point of contact for Crescent’s landowners, royalty owners, working interest owners, partners, and vendors. This position is responsible for responding to and resolving inquiries received by phone, email, and written correspondence while delivering a professional, timely, and positive stakeholder experience. The Owner Relations Analyst will research a broad range of ownership and payment-related matters, maintain detailed records of stakeholder communications, and collaborate closely with Division Order, Land Administration, Land Operations, Accounting, and other internal teams to support ownership maintenance and the accurate administration of division of interest (“DOI”) records. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. This individual must communicate with patience, empathy, and professionalism while following established processes and exercising sound judgment when resolving or escalating stakeholder concerns.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of related experience in owner relations, division orders, land administration, revenue accounting, or a comparable oil and gas function.
  • Experience researching and resolving owner inquiries involving ownership, payments, title documentation, and account maintenance.
  • Strong commitment to providing responsive, professional, and respectful service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex matters clearly and tactfully.
  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and solution-oriented when handling sensitive or challenging owner concerns.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate owner and ownership records.
  • Ability to independently research issues, evaluate supporting documentation, and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated or referred to another department.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas ownership, division order, revenue, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures while identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and improved service.
  • Ability to learn land, accounting, and document-management systems quickly with appropriate training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, energy management, land administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting oil and gas assets in Texas and Utah.
  • Experience using land and owner-management systems.
  • Familiarity with division orders, ownership transfers, title documentation, and oil and gas revenue processes.
  • Working knowledge of Form 1099 reporting and owner tax maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with landowners, royalty owners, working interest owners, partners, and vendors through clear communication, attentive service, and timely follow-up.
  • Serve as a primary contact for incoming phone calls, emails, letters, and other correspondence regarding owner accounts, payments, ownership records, and related matters.
  • Listen carefully to stakeholder questions and concerns, research the underlying issues, and provide clear and accurate resolutions when possible.
  • Identify inquiries requiring specialized review, route them to the appropriate internal department, and maintain ownership of follow-up and status communication through resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries involving, but not limited to: General owner account information, Address and contact information updates, Payment status and revenue related questions, Direct-deposit enrollment and changes, Title requirements and ownership documentation, Transfers of interest, assignments and conveyances, Estates, deaths, and successions, Trusts and changes in trustees, Name changes and entity changes, Marketing arrangements, Tax identification and withholding matters.
  • Review submitted documentation for completeness and ensure the appropriate supporting materials are obtained before ownership or account changes are processed.
  • Accurately document and track all owner, partner, and vendor communications, including the nature of each inquiry, actions taken, supporting documentation, and outstanding follow-up items.
  • Use internal systems and research tools to investigate and resolve a wide range of ownership, payment, and account related issues.
  • Collaborate with Division Order, Land Administration, Land Operations, Accounting, and other internal teams to complete DOI maintenance and ensure ownership records remain accurate and current.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Form 1099 reporting requirements and understand how owner setup, ownership changes, tax information, and payment activity may affect annual reporting.
  • Identify recurring issues, process gaps, or opportunities to improve the owner experience and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of owner, tax, banking, and other sensitive information in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
