About The Position

The Overnight Stock Assistant Manager helps keep the store running smoothly by leading the overnight stock crew, ensuring merchandise is received, stocked, and organized, and preparing the store for the next day. The role affects product availability, store appearance, and customers’ shopping experience. It is a physically active position performed primarily during overnight hours and includes supervising employees, coordinating freight and deliveries, managing inventory and schedules, supporting customer service, and maintaining store standards and policies. Direction and support come from the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Overnight Stock Manager. The position reports to these roles and directly supervises Overnight Stock Employees.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced overnight retail environment.
Ability to solve practical problems and make sound decisions with a variety of variables.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Clear written and verbal communication with employees, vendors, and leadership.
Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities throughout a shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to continuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods.
Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment where applicable; required operator certification must be completed before independent use.
Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product where applicable.
Ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor where applicable and in accordance with age and legal requirements.
Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing where applicable.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Set and uphold department standards for customer service, cleanliness, sanitation, team relations, and profitability.
Supervise and direct the overnight stock crew, assign duties, monitor productivity, and hold individual check-ins with crew members.
Oversee warehouse ordering, including pre-orders for grocery, non-foods, and supplies, and coordinate work with assistant managers.
Review and maintain the RPM system, including inventory setup, understock and backstock management, trigger settings, and order review.
Unload trucks, break down pallets, sort items by aisle, and check in vendor deliveries piece by piece.
Supervise drop shipments and direct store deliveries, and oversee produce and frozen food truck unloading.
Write the overnight stock schedule and monitor time-off and vacation requests, overtime hours, and sick call-ins.
Train new employees on stocking, facing, order tags, UPCs, register operation, customer service, and department services.
Assist with customer service, including checkout, sacking, carry-outs, cash accountability, and day-end reports.
Set and reset new items, tags, and prices as needed, including in-store specials for prior ad items.
Understand and troubleshoot store equipment, including electrical systems, registers, coolers, compressors, and display cases.
Maintain compliance with the dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
Unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
