About The Position

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is opening a second state-of-the-art Specialty and Emergency hospital in Dunwoody, Georgia in October 2026. They are building their founding Overnight Emergency team and seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Registered Veterinary Technicians, Certified Veterinary Technicians, and highly skilled Veterinary Assistants who are passionate about Emergency Medicine. This is an opportunity to help shape a brand-new hospital while working alongside experienced Emergency clinicians and Board-Certified Specialists. Selected candidates will begin paid onboarding and specialty training at their Marietta hospital in September 2026 before transitioning to the new Dunwoody location.

Requirements

Experience with Emergency Triage
Experience with Critical thinking
Experience with ICU patient management
Experience with Trauma stabilization
Experience with Advanced nursing care
Experience with Practicing at the top of your license
Experience with IV catheter placement
Experience with Venipuncture
Experience with Laboratory diagnostics
Experience with Patient monitoring
Experience with Oxygen therapy
Experience with ECG monitoring
Experience with Radiology
Experience with Fluid therapy
Experience with Medical calculations
Experience with Hospitalized patient care
Experience with Anesthesia and Surgical Support
2+ years of veterinary clinical experience preferred
Comfortable standing and walking throughout a 10 to 12-hour shift
Comfortable frequently bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching
Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance
Comfortable performing patient restraint
Comfortable working in a fast-paced Emergency environment
Comfortable working around animal dander, medical gases, cleaning products, disinfectants, blood, bodily fluids, and other veterinary-related substances

Responsibilities

Perform emergency patient triage
Assist with stabilization of critical patients
Support CPR and RECOVER protocols
Assist with emergency procedures
Prepare patients for surgery and specialty consultations
Monitor hospitalized ICU patients
Administer medications, CRIs, blood products and fluid therapy
Perform ongoing nursing assessments
Monitor pain management
Maintain detailed treatment records
Assist with emergency surgical procedures
Monitor anesthesia
Support patient recovery
Prepare treatment and surgery areas

Shift Differentials
$2.00/hour Monday through Friday Between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
$3.00/hour Weekend overnight differential Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
