About The Position

Medstar Transportation is hiring drivers to transport patients and other clients using company vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible vans, buses, or sedans. Services may include non-emergency medical transportation, ADA paratransit, fixed-route transportation, shuttle services, Lift and ProMaster transports, cot and stretcher trips, and rides with children. The company provides a vehicle, maintenance, and gas. The role includes varying shifts and rotational on-call duties based on operational needs. The posting states that the schedule can be Monday through Friday, 8 PM to 6 AM.

The hiring process includes submitting an application, attending a one-hour job shadow, passing a background check and drug screening, completing virtual classroom training and paperwork, and attending four to five days of paid in-vehicle training with a trainer in the assigned area.

Requirements

• Be over the age of 21 and have been licensed for at least five years.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Have no more than two moving violations within the past three years.
• Pass a DOT drug screening and mandatory criminal background check.
• Be physically able to secure clients in wheelchairs or other devices.
• Have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others.
• Be available to drive varying shifts and rotational on-call duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and effectively with dispatch.
• Use a smartphone for job functions.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Transport clients safely and securely using a company vehicle.
• Participate in rotational on-call duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
