About The Position

Homewatch CareGivers of Long Beach & Torrance is hiring an Overnight Caregiver to provide one-on-one in-home care and companionship to a long-term client in the Long Beach area. The client needs help with activities of daily living and enjoys dinner, conversation, and companionship in the evenings. The caregiver helps the client live life to the fullest and gives their family peace of mind overnight.

This is an awake overnight position, with available weeknight and weekend shifts running from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next morning. Longer shifts can mean fewer workdays. The role is overtime eligible, with double-time pay on qualifying shifts. The employer offers both part-time and full-time schedules generally, but this posting does not specify which employment status applies to this position.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience in home care, as a CNA or HHA, or in assisted living or a hospital.
• Reliability and consistency for overnight shifts.
• Ability to stay awake and alert throughout an overnight shift.
• Comfort with personal care and mobility assistance.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Compassion, patience, and clear communication.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or interest in caregiving, medical work, CNA or HHA work, nursing, or hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one in-home care and companionship through the evening and overnight.
• Assist with evening routines, including dinner preparation, bathing, dressing, toileting, and incontinence care.
• Help the client with mobility, including nighttime bathroom assistance.
• Provide medication reminders according to the care plan.
• Stay awake and attentive to the client's safety and comfort through the night.
• Perform light housekeeping and help keep the home clean and safe.
• Complete shift notes in the CareGiver Mobile App and provide a clear handoff to the morning caregiver.
• Promptly report changes in the client's condition or other concerns to the care team.
