About The Position

Avenues Home Care’s Overnight Caregivers provide care to elderly, vulnerable, and disabled clients, often people who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers put each client’s needs first and follow the client’s plan of care. The Chattanooga office serves the surrounding local area, including Jasper, Cleveland, Signal Mountain, Dayton, Ooltewah, Hixson, Dalton, Lookout Mountain, and Ringgold. Shifts offered include full-time, part-time, PRN, and short shifts, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts available. Caregivers report daily activity through the agency management system and daily activity logs, and communicate with supervisors through available channels such as phone, email, the agency app, or in person. Caregivers are expected to provide safe, superior care; maintain confidentiality; follow company policies and procedures; report suspected abuse or neglect and changes in client condition; and attend meetings or in-services as requested. The role requires maintaining an established work schedule, a fit-for-duty physical condition, a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. Caregivers may be required to lift or push up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Possess good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written assignments.
Demonstrate proficiency with the homecare company management system, ClearCare.
Be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Maintain an established work schedule and a fit-for-duty physical condition.
Have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Have effective interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
Have effective organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

CNA license or alternate experience as a caregiver.
CPR and First Aid certifications.
Reliable transportation.
Prior experience assisting with activities of daily living or caring for elderly, disabled, or other vulnerable clients.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living specified in their plans of care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, toileting, transferring, eating, and continence care.
Assist with medications, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, feeding, shopping, transportation to and from appointments, and companionship.
Perform other household tasks specified in the client’s plan of care.
Report daily activity to a supervisor through the agency management system and daily activity logs, and use other communication channels as needed.
Practice safety in all activities involving clients and report unsafe working conditions or behavior.
Provide superior care and remain alert to care concerns or changes in a client’s condition.
Report suspected abuse or neglect immediately through the proper chain of command, as required by law.
Document unusual behavior, events, conditions, or people.
Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence, and other information, including following company policies and HIPAA-related procedures.
Maintain personal appearance in compliance with company policies and dress code, and report for shifts on time or communicate scheduling changes promptly.
Attend meetings and in-services as requested and abide by company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
