About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Overhead Transmission Engineer for its Electric Transmission Team. The role may be based in Duluth, Georgia, or performed remotely. It focuses on applying engineering expertise to overhead transmission projects, developing engineering solutions, and guiding junior team members. Fully remote work is available, though occasional on-site responsibilities may be required for employees located near a CHA office.

The engineer will develop complex designs and technical project documents for electric overhead transmission work, including rebuilding existing lines, designing new greenfield lines, and supporting utility project scoping. The role also coordinates project phases with other engineering disciplines and project management staff, monitors project delivery, and supports completion within budget and schedule constraints.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, at least four years of discipline-specific engineering experience, prior transmission engineer experience, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. The salary range is $100,000–$110,000, with the final salary based on factors including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and market evaluation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least four years of discipline-specific engineering experience.
• Previous transmission engineer experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Advanced proficiency in engineering, computational, and modeling software, such as Revit, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD, as well as Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interface regularly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced engineering judgment and analysis for complex designs, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents for electric overhead transmission projects.
• Work on rebuilding existing overhead transmission lines, designing new greenfield transmission lines, and supporting utility project scoping.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed project phases with other engineering disciplines and project management staff.
• Monitor project progress and performance to support efficient production and minimize issues.
• Complete projects within budget and schedule constraints while supporting sustainable, cost-effective, and future-ready grid solutions.
• Provide guidance and technical review for junior engineering staff working on electric overhead transmission and power delivery projects.
