About The Position

Sumter Utilities, Inc. (a Quanta Services company) seeks Overhead Crew positions including Foreman, A Lineman, B Lineman, C Lineman, Operator, and Groundman. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a construction crew member. Preference may be given to candidates who can bring additional qualified individuals to form complete crews. Safety is a core value, and candidates demonstrating a commitment to safe operations will be highly considered. Assemble materials on the ground and hoist them into the work area using handlines and other safe methods (Groundman).
Assist other crew members digging/filling pole holes and trenches using a shovel (Groundman).
Flag traffic and set up job sites as directed (Groundman).
Maintain organization of tools and materials on work vehicles (Groundman).
Perform set up, clean up and organizing of job sites (Groundman).
The employee is required to sit; frequently climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or maneuver up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or maneuver up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Possession of a valid Class A CDL is HIGHLY PREFERRED.
Those hired without a CDL may be required to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent (for Apprenticeship Program eligibility).

Communicate directly with General Foremen, Superintendents, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Line Crews and other project personnel as required (Foreman).
