About The Position

The Overhaul Welder IV position is designated for highly skilled, senior‑level welders who demonstrate expert proficiency in MIG and TIG welding of fittings, piping, sheet metal, and complex components. This role performs advanced fabrication, repair, and remanufacturing of metal parts and is relied upon to execute critical, high‑complexity weld operations that directly impact product quality, safety, and delivery. Welder IV employees serve as technical leaders on the shop floor, capable of independently planning and executing complex welding tasks, troubleshooting weld‑related issues, mentoring less experienced welders, and supporting production, test, and assembly operations with minimal oversight. Employees in this role work both independently and collaboratively, providing technical guidance to peers while following direction from team leads, supervisors, and managers. The Overhaul Welder IV is expected to interpret complex drawings, welding procedures, and engineering requirements and to make sound technical decisions to resolve weld‑related challenges without compromising quality or safety. This role routinely works on high‑complexity parts and assemblies with tight tolerance requirements and minimal engineering or senior support. Welding work performed by Welder IV employees is expected to require little to no rework and often serves as the benchmark for quality and workmanship within the value stream. Welder IV employees work with a wide range of materials including aluminum, mild steel, alloys, stainless steel, and high‑temperature aerospace alloys. They operate advanced welding equipment and associated tools and are expected to understand heat input, distortion control, joint design, and metallurgical considerations associated with remanufactured components. Employees must pass and maintain all required welding qualification tests and demonstrate mastery of welding procedures. They must be proficient welding in all positions and adaptable to varied and challenging work environments. Work may be performed on the manufacturing shop floor, in engine test cells, disassembly areas, or other active work environments. Employees in this role are expected to recognize hazards, model safe work practices, and actively support the development of lower‑level welders through coaching and knowledge sharing. Candidates may be required to complete a welding test prior to hire or advancement to demonstrate advanced proficiency.
