About The Position

This role involves greeting and interacting with customers in an empathetic, courteous, and helpful manner, listening and responding promptly to their needs. The technician will determine if furniture requires parts replacement and if it is repairable to good stock. Responsibilities include repairing damaged furniture to new condition within a specified timeframe, which may involve case goods (wood or manufactured material furniture), fabric and leather upholstery, and cleaning stained or soiled furniture and mattresses. The role requires safe operation of hand and power hand tools, particularly drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools. Technicians will complete bench testing evaluations for skill validation, support the development and growth of other technicians, and follow instructions in documentation and reporting, including standard operating procedures and activity recording. They will also follow a planned route for on-time customer repairs, report incomplete or problem service calls to the Customer Response Team, and complete weekly vehicle maintenance and log updates. Maintaining a clean and organized service vehicle, including required repair materials and supplies, is essential. Adherence to the driving policy for company vehicles, including meeting annual MVR review requirements, is also necessary. Additionally, the technician will assist shop technicians with repairs as needed when required and available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-year practical work experience in furniture repair including upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing OR similar experience working with other materials and completing color matching.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and growth of other technicians.
  • Follow instructions in documentation and reporting, including standard operating procedures and activity recording.
  • Follow the planned route to ensure on-time arrival for Customer repairs.
  • Report any incomplete or problem service calls to the Customer Response Team.
  • Complete weekly vehicle maintenance and log updates as required.
