About The Position

Outside Sales | Nox Metals | Detroit, MI American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. The next generation of American manufacturing is being built right now. Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it. Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible. We need an Outside Sales hire to win new business and own accounts the rest of the industry will not touch. The job is machine shops first, the precision shops, the job shops, the contract manufacturers cutting parts for aerospace, defense, and industrial customers. You will walk their floors, prove Nox is faster and more reliable than anything they have used before, and win their material spend. Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of outside sales experience, ideally selling metals, industrial products, tooling, or technical components into machine shops
  • A new business hunter who can also run the account, you do not need a separate role to keep the customer happy
  • Comfortable on a shop floor, you can stand at a CNC, talk to the operator, and earn the buyer's trust before you ever quote a part
  • Skilled at building real relationships, customers should know your name, take your call, and want to give you more business
  • Strong technical fluency, you can talk alloys, tempers, tolerances, and lead times like a programmer
  • Cracked with AI tools, modern software, and CRM data, you run your pipeline like an operator, not like a guesser
  • A team player with a good attitude, you bring deals back to the company and the company makes them happen
  • High attention to quality, every quote, every commitment, every customer interaction
  • Always thinking about how to make processes better, you do not accept "this is how we have always done it"
  • Absolutely customer obsessed, you carry every customer's deadline like it is your own
  • Someone who takes ownership, if it is your account, it is your responsibility
  • Precise under pressure and reliable, customers count on the dates you commit to
  • Organized enough to run dozens of active opportunities and accounts without dropping one

Nice To Haves

  • Existing book of business in machine shops, precision job shops, or contract manufacturing
  • Background selling aluminum, steel, titanium, or other metals into the machining world
  • Experience selling tooling, abrasives, fluids, or other shop consumables into the same buyers
  • Relationships with aerospace and defense supply chains, OEMs, primes, and tier 1s
  • Track record building a territory from scratch
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Responsibilities

  • Win new business across machine shops, precision job shops, and contract manufacturers, this is the core of the role
  • Pick up OEM, prime, and tier 1 accounts opportunistically when relationships open the door, but the day-to-day is shop floors
  • Own the full sales cycle, prospecting, first call, plant visit, quote, close, and ongoing account management
  • Walk machine shop floors, sit with owners, buyers, programmers, and engineers, understand the parts they make and the metal they need
  • Manage every account you close, you do not throw a customer over the wall after the first PO
  • Build deep relationships with shop owners, buyers, programmers, and ops leaders at every account
  • Bring the customer's voice back to operations, supply chain, software, and quality every single day
  • Quote fast, follow up faster, and close on the dates you commit to
  • Own a pipeline in our CRM, every conversation logged, every commitment tracked, every forecast honest
  • Travel as needed, in a region or nationally, judged on the relationships you build and the deals you close
  • Always ask questions, never guess when something is unclear
  • Look at every account and figure out how to win more of their wallet
  • Work safely on every customer floor and hold yourself to the same standard we hold our team to
