Outside Sales Representative
About The Position
Russel Metals is seeking a highly optimistic, self-motivated Outside Salesperson to join their team covering the Houston market. This role offers a base salary plus bonus potential. Russel Metals is one of North America's largest metals distribution companies, with a growing focus on value-added processing. They operate in three segments: metals service centers, energy field stores, and steel distributors. Their metals service centers offer a wide range of metal products, while energy field stores cater to the specific needs of the energy industry. Steel distributors focus on selling large volumes of steel to other service centers and equipment manufacturers.
Requirements
- 3-5 years outside sales experience required
- Steel Industry experience REQUIRED
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
Responsibilities
- Utilize special skills to promote the company’s products and increase customer base
- Make calls to potential and existing customers to sell the company’s products and services
- Build and maintain customer relationships in a positive manner
- Setup and maintain new and established customer data base
- Monitor technical and business objectives of prospective customers
- Responsible for negotiating and preparing material bids for significant clients by setting pricing and profit margins and formulating all plan details
- Provide appropriate communication regarding inventory levels, dead stock and new product evaluation
- Maintain working knowledge of product lines
- Negotiate skillfully and achieve acceptable profit margins in order to increase company’s profits and maintain company’s over-all financial health
- Work closely and communicate effectively with supporting both operations and sales staff to see orders through to correct and timely fulfillment
- Report customer issues immediately and provide customer support to resolve complaints and problems, while maintaining good relationships
- Monitor quality control
- Actively participate in training to increase sales skills and product knowledge
- Participate in inventory physical counts
