About The Position

Sell, build, and maintain a customer and sales base within the specified territory to respond to all inquiries by performing the following duties. This role involves contacting and visiting customers to build and maintain relationships via various communication channels, generating sales leads, providing quotes, introducing new products, and resolving customer complaints. The position also requires staying updated on market trends and maintaining technical knowledge. Additionally, the role involves administrative tasks such as maintaining calendars, preparing reports, and managing expense accounts. Customer service duties may also be covered as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of related sales or customer service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Driving record that is acceptable to the company’s insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in the plastic industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contact and visit customers to build and maintain relationships by email, phone, fax, letter, and personal visits.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Generate written quotes with supporting correspondence and follow up until the order is placed, lost, or opportunity is closed.
  • Talk with existing customers to determine current/future needs and current satisfaction and build relationships.
  • Introduce new products to clients and prospects using samples or catalog, displays or demonstrates product, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Quote prices and credit terms established and prepare sales orders as necessary.
  • Communicate with the warehouse regarding the estimated delivery date of the product to the customer.
  • Gather current marketplace information on pricing, products, merchandising techniques, etc., for the Sales Manager.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Attend sales meetings as required.
  • Maintain open communication with Sales Manager as to whereabouts for scheduling purposes.
  • Maintain Outlook calendar daily, prepare call reports weekly, and keep vehicle/maintenance log and expense accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Cover customer service duties as needed in the absence of other customer service personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Sales Manager.
