About The Position

The Outside Sales Representative – Grower Specialist manages a territory sales plan focused on meeting existing customer needs, developing new customer relationships, and executing on market growth strategies in the commercial greenhouse and nursery markets. Travel is as needed to customer base and special events as required. Compensation is exempt base salary plus commission. The successful candidate must live in Wisconsin, which is the designated sales region.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in the grower, horticulture, and greenhouse industries
  • 2-3 years of proven sales experience as an outside sales representative preferred.
  • Strong customer service mentality essential.
  • Ability to learn and apply diverse customer, vendor, or third-party requirements.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of products and make recommendations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Must have excellent collaboration skills to effectively work cross-functionally and with our customers.
  • Requires weekly travel, including some overnight, and required attendance at company and industry-sponsored events, conventions, and trade shows.
  • Ability to work independently of supervision through time management and effective planning.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and exhibit sound business decisions around travel planning and expense management.
  • Ability to meet or exceed territory monthly and annual budget through customer retention, increasing current customer sales, and growth through new customer acquisition.
  • Intermediate to advanced ability to navigate technology and utilize MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in horticulture, business, marketing, or a similar field preferred.
  • experience with greenhouse cap-ex projects a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and grows the designated territory by exhibiting a comprehensive knowledge of the industry, the customer’s business needs, product capabilities and solutions.
  • Identifies potential new customers through various channels, prepares sales materials and arranges meetings to introduce the company, its portfolio of products and available services.
  • Keeps customers informed of market trends and associated product offerings.
  • Serves as a profitability resource to customers by identifying and suggesting ways to reduce cost, increase profitability, or expand growing space.
  • Submits and processes orders to meet customer delivery expectations, ensuring customers receive the products or services they require and within the anticipated period.
  • Provides effective follow-up contact with customers. Assesses the customer’s satisfaction with the product and service provided. Works with internal departments to resolve customer issues promptly.
  • Participates in ongoing training and workshops and attends networking events, trade shows and company sales meetings to expand market and product knowledge.
  • Analyzes sales data and prepares reports on territory performance and potential. Provides feedback in support of sales initiatives to management and marketing departments.
