About The Position

Iron Horse Environmental, a UFT company, specializes in water and wastewater treatment solutions, offering expertise across various equipment and processes including pumping, mixing, solids handling, odor control, and disinfection. They support municipalities, industries, and engineers with reliable equipment and responsive service from design through installation and ongoing maintenance. The Outside Sales Engineer role focuses on developing and maintaining relationships with municipalities, consulting engineers, and local general contractors in Eastern Pennsylvania, Northern Delaware, and Southern New Jersey to drive sales and provide solutions. This position requires strong time management, self-motivation, organization, conflict resolution, and follow-through skills. It involves regular interaction with consultants, wastewater treatment plant personnel, and contractors, including in-person consultations, product demonstrations, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with industrial process equipment and pump sales, with proven success in sales, business development, or account management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical solutions to engineers, municipalities, contractors, and plant personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-through.
  • Proven skills in consultative selling, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational, time management, and territory management abilities.
  • Comfortable conducting in-person meetings, product demonstrations, and technical presentations.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects, priorities, and customer accounts.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in an assigned territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the water/wastewater industry is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/customer relationship management software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with existing end users, contractors, and engineers while cultivating new business opportunities and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide engineers and end users with professional product recommendations, technical support, and consistent follow-up to ensure successful project execution and maximize sales growth.
  • Take initiative in scheduling customer meetings, coordinating product presentations and promotional events, and maintaining regular communication with your customer base.
  • Attend product training sessions and actively participate in local industry associations, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Travel to manufacturers and represented company locations for training and professional development as needed.
