About The Position

Shelby Materials is hiring an Outside Sales Representative within our Ready-Mix Concrete division to grow and support customer relationships in the Indianapolis area. This position is based out of our Brownsburg, IN location. The role is responsible for identifying and tracking projects from early development through completion, building new business, supporting existing clients, and coordinating internally to ensure on-time, in-spec deliveries and strong customer satisfaction. We're looking for someone who is professional, driven, and relationship-focused who enjoys visiting jobsites and doing work in the field while communicating clearly with decision-makers. In this role, you'll develop opportunities, support bids/quotes, and manage accounts by working closely with customers and projects. You'll help pair customer expectations with plant capacity and job requirements by coordinating with dispatch, operations, and quality control.

Requirements

  • 2+ Years construction or materials sales experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, manage a territory, and meet performance goals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization and follow-through skills.
  • Comfortable visiting jobsites and communicating with a variety of stakeholders (Owners, Estimators, Project Managers, Engineers, Site Superintendents).
  • Organized and self-motivated with strong time management and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with basic computer tools: email, spreadsheets, quoting tools, CRM, expense systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our current group of contractors, builders, developers, and project teams within your territory while also fostering relationships with new potential clients.
  • Represent Shelby Materials professionally on jobsites, during office visits and at industry events/association meetings as needed.
  • Identify, pursue, and track projects from start to finish, maintaining a consistent pipeline.
  • Prepare and support quotes/bids and follow established pricing/quoting processes; negotiate pricing as needed while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Coordinate daily with operations, quality control, and dispatch regarding schedules, product requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Support customers and internal teams with mix design submittals and job-specific requirements when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity including calls, visits, proposals, wins/losses, and provide forecasting and activity reporting using company tools.
  • Monitor market conditions, competition, and customer trends; share insights with leadership and the sales team.
