About The Position

The Outside Plant Supervisor (East) is responsible for the direction of day-to-day activities related to service, work orders, trouble tickets, installations, construction, and ongoing maintenance of outside plant and equipment as assigned. This position provides daily leadership and oversight of Outside Plant Technicians, coordinates staffing and priorities, supports safe and efficient operations, and works collaboratively with other departments, vendors, contractors, and Cooperative members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in telecommunications or a related field with demonstrated ability to interpret technical and business documents, prioritize work, solve problems, leadership experience or training, and respond effectively to customer needs.
  • Must possess a valid Minnesota driver's license upon hire and maintain a driving record that meets the Cooperative's insurance requirements.

  • Experience working as a team leader for Fiber-to-the-Home.
  • Advanced knowledge of telephony and fiber technologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of voice, video, and data services.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or leadership training.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise Outside Plant Technicians and provide daily oversight of service, work orders, trouble reports, installations, construction, and maintenance activities.
  • Assign and prioritize daily work, monitor progress and accuracy, and adjust staffing and workloads as needed to meet operational priorities, deadlines, and seasonal demands while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Supervise the construction, installation, maintenance, and restoration of buried and aerial fiber optic and communications facilities, along with associated equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Identify recurring or high trouble-call areas and assist in developing solutions to improve reliability, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, accountability, and feedback to team members; assist with hiring, onboarding, training, employee reviews, and corrective action as needed.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment where employees are treated with respect and consideration.
  • Ensure team members understand safety requirements, industry standards, and Company expectations and complete all required and Company-sponsored training.
  • Communicate goals, priorities, work status, and operational needs clearly and consistently with team members and other departments.
  • Coordinate with Network Provisioning, Purchasing/Inventory, warehouse personnel, and other departments to support installation scheduling, procurement, inventory, records, and efficient operations.
  • Provide professional and respectful customer service, maintain positive relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and subsidiary companies, and represent PBC professionally.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned by the Network Operations Manager.
