About The Position

Kinetic, a business unit of Uniti, is hiring an Outside Plant Engineer I/II to engineer and design outside plant telecommunications facilities, including fiber and copper, serving consumer and small business customers. The role involves analyzing data and solving complex business and residential network problems using copper cable, fiber cable, and electronics. The position may be based in Waynesburg, Meadville, Brookville, State College, or Ephrata, Pennsylvania. The engineer assists with planning, analysis, design, and engineering of outside plant network structures and facilities; organizes activities for the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects; and applies sound engineering practices and company objectives to resolve issues. The position also involves communicating and collaborating with others, designing projects for cost-effective use of materials and labor, and completing project-related administrative work. Work is conducted approximately 70% in the field and 30% in the office, varying by market. Overnight and out-of-market travel of up to 25% is required. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2–4 years of professional-level experience; or 6+ years of professional-level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional-level related Engineering/Technical experience.
Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently with little guidance.
Ability to work in a self-directed group, collaborate easily, and contribute as a team player.
Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions.
Ability to travel overnight and out of the market up to 25% of the time.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with CAD/E, MicroStation, AutoCAD, 3GIS, or similar design programs.
Experience using Katapult Pro to gather pole data.
Previous telecommunications engineering experience or engineering coursework.
Experience working with city, county, or state agencies and other utility companies.
