About The Position

Las Vegas Rescue Mission (LVRM) is a private, faith-based organization that serves our community by offering a safe place for men and women to break the cycle of homelessness and addiction. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission (LVRM) is hiring for an Outreach position funded by City of Las Vegas. This position is a grant funded position. The City is partnering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and City of Las Vegas Marshals to create four (4) multi-agency homeless outreach teams (The MORE Project) to proactively engage the homeless population throughout the City. The position has specific work schedules 4 days a week, 10 hours a shift. Outreach must comply with all standards and directions specified by the Las Vegas Rescue Mission as well as City of Las Vegas. They directly report to the City for daily tasks and supervision. All Human Resources are conducted through LVRM.

Requirements

  • Active driver’s License with clean driving history (10 years)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook, MS Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Respectful of cultural diversity
  • Ability to demonstrate healthy boundaries, follow safety protocols, and Crisis Intervention/ de-escalation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in outreach or with vulnerable populations
  • Peer of homelessness or addition history
  • Minimum 2 years of Recovery (if applicable)
  • Bilingual Speaking

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engaging within specified area with the homeless and to educate them on ways to mitigate homeless issues in their area.
  • Focus on services to homeless clients who suffer from issues or have needs included in but not limited to the following categories: Mental/Behavioral Health, Veterans Services, Chronic Homelessness, Ambulatory Detox/Withdrawal Management, Addictions, or Addictive Behavior, Families with Children.
  • Enter data (HMIS) to capture: Number of encounters with homeless clients, Number of clients who accepted a service.
  • Create and respond to dispatches.
  • During outreach encounters, homeless clients are to be offered a variety of services to meet their needs and assist them with entry into a housing program if immediately possible.
  • Transport engaged persons to shelter, housing, detox/rehab, or any additional follow-up appointments.
  • Complete appropriate assessments.
  • Provide crisis interventions when needed, creating a calm environment and following The City’s and LVRM policies.
  • Work with medical and clinical staff.
