About The Position

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) is seeking a full-time Outreach Specialist to join their Calumet Team at Altgeld Gardens. MFS is an organization that empowers families to learn, earn, heal, and thrive, with a strong emphasis on community. This role involves engaging with residents to provide information and assistance related to self-sufficiency, youth empowerment, and quality of life services.

Requirements

Minimum of 1+ year of experience in related field.
High School Diploma required
Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle.
Travel between sites required.

Demonstrated ability to render adequate services to clients and organize/manage job efficiently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

Provides ongoing outreach engagement for self-sufficiency services, youth empowerment services and quality of life services.
Door to door canvasing, dissemination of materials and other related activities.
Handles emergency and crisis situations with residents.
Provides assistance with facilitating and implementing monthly programs.
Works within contract, grant and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements.
Takes increasing responsibility for own professional development, utilizing supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency to enhance skills and understanding.
Other duties assigned.
