This position is responsible for the husbandry of the species in the Animal Outreach & Conservation Center (ARCC) and Outreach collection and presentation of educational wildlife presentations on site. The role involves handling and presenting Outreach animals during various programs including stage shows, informal in-park presentations, virtual presentations, and on-site special events. The specialist will maintain and care for the Animal Outreach collection, train and socialize with the animals daily, and assist the Outreach Manager in designing and implementing programs. They will also work with the Outreach Manager and Supervisor to ensure animal husbandry, enrichment, and safety, participate in the zoo-wide behavioral management program, carry out animal diet directives, maintain records, and communicate regarding animal health and welfare. Additionally, the position promotes the Fort Worth Zoo and its objectives through various media channels and speaking events.
