About The Position

The California State University, Fullerton High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is searching for a talented and professional Outreach Retention Specialist to provide public education, recruitment, enrollment, and retention services to key areas, and maintain all community outreach activities. The Outreach Retention Specialist will work with the Project Director and Instruction Coordinator to develop and implement initiatives that increase program visibility within the surrounding community. The ideal Outreach Retention Specialist is self-motivated, enthusiastic, willing to learn about community resources, and has experience cultivating collaborative relationships. This position is anticipated to work 20 hours per week. Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.

Requirements

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
  • Outstanding written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of program vision, mission, and services.
  • Knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and build relationships with colleagues, new/current students, and community/organization leaders.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive internal and external working relationships at all levels of the agency.
  • Proven relationship-building skills to support collaboration and partnership activities.
  • Ability to track and report upcoming outreach opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience conducting outreach, community engagement, and recruitment, or similar activities, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances and other communication opportunities.
  • Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations.
  • Assist in the preparation of an Outreach and Recruitment Plan, as well as related events and activities.
  • Assist the Project Director in nurturing new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
  • Assist in recruiting, retaining, and screening participants.
  • Assist, attend, and support in the organization of special events, when needed.
  • Attend all staff meetings within hours of work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
