About The Position

The Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit civil law firm, seeks a full time Outreach Paralegal. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently and as part of a team, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for serving low-income Georgians. He/she must have extensive experience with Microsoft Office, working proficiently in Word, Outlook, and Excel. About Georgia Legal Services Program Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) is a statewide, nonprofit public interest law firm in Georgia that offers free civil legal services to low-income individuals, fostering equal access to justice and opportunities out of poverty. GLSP is founded on the belief that everyone deserves high-quality legal services regardless of income, age, race, or other demographic factors. GLSP runs 10 regional offices that serve Georgians with low incomes living outside metro Atlanta in 154 of the state’s 159 counties. GLSP employs approximately 182 full-time staff members. We provide free legal aid across a wide range of civil issues, including family law, housing, access to public benefits, eviction prevention, farmworkers' rights, and educational access.

Requirements

Vehicle and valid driver’s license required for business-related travel
Excellent writing skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated desire and capacity to serve low-income populations
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to innovate and improve existing programs
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High School Graduate; some college or relevant work experience preferred
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Good track record completing tasks in a timely manner

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a law firm or nonprofit organization preferred
Additional supplement for employees who pass GLSP’s Spanish proficiency test and use Spanish in their GLSP position
Prior experience as a GLSP paralegal, receptionist, or client pre-screener is a plus

Responsibilities

Prepare and present community education sessions to senior groups, or initiate communication with and arrange for other legal staff to present these sessions, providing administrative support for these sessions
Complete monthly and quarterly grant reports
Provide administrative and case work support for cases for legal workers in the Gainesville Office
Maintain MailChimp site and client emailing lists
Attend fairs, expos and other community events
Prepare and distribute community education materials

Salary range $35,975 - $47,725, dependent upon experience and qualifications
Probationary period: 6 months
