About The Position

Resource Central is seeking a Bilingual Spanish/English Outreach & Events Coordinator to join their Materials Reuse program. This role is crucial for extending conservation benefits to diverse community members, including Latino families, veterans, seniors, women, and low-income households. The program focuses on diverting building materials from landfills and making them available at affordable prices for home improvement projects. The Coordinator will lead communication and engagement efforts, connect with the community through new channels, host and attend events, translate marketing materials, and develop partnerships. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Boulder, CO, with some flexibility for remote work. Resource Central is an environmental nonprofit with a 50-year history of helping Coloradans make a positive environmental impact.

Requirements

  • Completely fluent in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both.
  • At least 2 years of experience preferred leading community outreach or mission-driven programs.
  • Technical proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated accountability to manage budgets, timelines, logistics, reporting, performance tracking, and work effectively with others for smooth program execution.
  • Experience building partnerships with municipalities or community organizations to support program impact.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to off-site events and meetings across the Front Range, including weekends is required; Must pass and maintain a clean background check and driving record if offered the position.

  • Spanish Communication & Translation: Communicate effectively with program participants and translate outreach and educational materials between Spanish and English, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and culturally relevant.
  • Customer Service and Community Engagement: Build trusted relationships with bilingual and underrepresented community members by providing excellent service, answering questions, and connecting people with reuse opportunities.
  • Event Planning & Presenting: Plan and lead bilingual workshops, represent Resource Central at community events, and present to groups to increase awareness, participation, and support for reuse and conservation initiatives.
  • Communication and Outreach: Strong communicator with experience working with community-based organizations, presenting to groups, and creating events that engage participants and represent the organization publicly.
  • Commitment to Sustainability: A passion for environmental stewardship, sustainable practices, or a strong desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with Trades and Construction Industries: Basic knowledge of construction, deconstruction, building trades, or reuse practices that help reduce waste.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire Conservation Impact: Create a welcoming environment at our Materials Reuse facility by hosting bilingual events and being available at the Materials Reuse facility to share program benefits with the community, encouraging first-time and repeat participation.
  • Provide Spanish Language Support: Translate marketing materials and website content, and communicate with Spanish-speaking participants to answer questions and provide support.
  • Lead Community Outreach and Event Strategy: Help create and execute an initiative to expand participation in reuse and increase the conservation impact of the Materials Reuse program through new communication channels and events for all community members, with a focus on reaching Latino families, veterans, seniors, women, and low-income families.
  • Attend & Plan Community Events: Represent Resource Central by presenting at and/or tabling at outreach events, engaging with attendees about our conservation programs, and commuting to relevant opportunities across the Front Range. Support on-site events with planning, setup, breakdown, participant engagement, and community outreach.
  • Build Partnerships: Meet with contractors, tradespeople, labor groups, businesses, and community groups to establish partnerships to increase waste diversion, donations, and program participation.
  • Distribute Funding: Help review requests for donations or discounts for community members and facilitate the tracking of needs-based funding and approval process.
  • Foster Inclusion: Help build a strong sense of belonging by ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included at Resource Central.
