About The Position

The School of Nursing & Healthcare Leadership has an outstanding opportunity for an Outreach and Recruitment Specialist. Under the general direction of the Academic Services Director, the Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will recruit for undergraduate and graduate students into the three majors and promote the school through marketing strategies, multimedia platforms, and the website. This person will interact on a regular basis with the school staff and faculty, participate in strategic communications for the school, and plan and conduct prospective student events and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, or other related field and at least 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, content management.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment activities.
  • Experience working with students in an academic setting.
  • Experience creating marketing strategies that includes social, digital and print media.
  • Experience using MS Office products, including MS Access, with a history of easily adapting to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with graphic design, content creation, website design, and developing marketing materials.
  • Ability to set priorities, take initiative, problem-solve, and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative, effective, and professional working relationships.
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in making presentations to a broad range of audiences.
  • Ability to support the mission of the School of Nursing & Healthcare Leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience recruiting in a college or university setting.
  • Working knowledge of nursing, health sciences disciplines, and/or healthcare workforce.
  • Working knowledge of UW and UW Tacoma.
  • Familiarity with Drupal 8 content management system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate an annual recruitment plan for outreach activities, targeted recruitment, and other recruitment/retention related areas.
  • Plan and participate in outreach events which will result in successful recruitment of students into the graduate program and both undergraduate programs.
  • Network, develop and maintain effective working relationships with key staff and faculty, with community college partners, advisory council, local high schools, clinical faculty, alumni, and with health care organizations.
  • Focus efforts to recruit and retain students from all populations, including those historically underrepresented in nursing and healthcare leadership.
  • Ethically counsel prospective students, families, and counselors about the admissions policies and procedures and provide information about educational opportunities within the department.
  • Develop relationships with UWT staff who work with special populations, I.e., international students, TRiO, Running Start, diversity services, veterans, etc.
  • Update and maintain content and structure of the school’s website.
  • Work with faculty, staff, and students to create content for print and digital media such as flyers, packets, social media, podcasts, and electronic newsletters.
  • Utilize and monitor UW and UWT brand guidelines and applications of those in print and digital media.
  • Work with UWT’s Office of Advancement Marketing & Communications to represent the school in broader marketing and communication strategies development.
  • Maintain and coordinate alumni and post-graduation data in collaboration with UWT alumni relations team.
  • Perform other related duties and assist with events and special projects, as assigned, to support the mission and strategic initiatives of the school.
