About The Position

This role is to improve access to affordable healthcare by connecting uninsured and underinsured individuals with appropriate coverage options. This position provides clear, accurate guidance on health plans available through the Federal Insurance Marketplace and Medicaid, while supporting individuals through the enrollment process from start to finish. Through proactive outreach and strong community partnerships, this role helps expand health insurance coverage and promotes access to essential primary, dental, and behavioral health services, ultimately supporting healthier individuals and a stronger community. This position is part-time to start, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role based on performance and operational needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
  • Familiarity with local community resources
  • Proficiency in data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing applications
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Competency in using computers and standard office equipment
  • Work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of medical, financial, and legal information
  • Adapt to new processes and apply training effectively
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support team needs
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, providers, and the public
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Have and maintain a valid Montana’s driver license
  • Must obtain and maintain Certified Application Counselor (CAC), Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) certification (or equivalent) within a designated timeframe upon hire (3 months)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree
  • One-year relevant experience or training with community outreach, electronic health record systems, customer service, or medical office/clinic is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals and families with enrolling in health coverage, including completing applications, gathering documentation, and resolving enrollment issues
  • Clearly explain eligibility requirements, benefits, costs, and appeals processes
  • Assess client needs and connect them with appropriate healthcare and community resources
  • Provide guidance on premium tax credits and potential financial impacts
  • Serve as a resource for Medicaid, public assistance programs, and the Health Insurance Marketplace
  • Offer referrals to additional support services, such as Social Security Disability programs
  • Participate in community outreach events and build relationships with local businesses and organizations
  • Support the development and implementation of outreach and enrollment initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and referral partners
  • Contribute to quality assurance and improvement efforts
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
