About The Position

Iona Senior Services is seeking an energetic and community-focused Outreach and Coverage Contractor – Ward 2 to help connect older adults with Iona programs, nutrition services, and community resources. This position combines community outreach with flexible community dining site coverage. The contractor will engage older adults throughout Ward 2, participate in community events, connect residents with available services, document outreach activities, and provide site support when coverage is needed.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in community outreach, social services, senior services, or a comparable field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple community outreach activities.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and maneuver 25+ pounds.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Ward 2 neighborhoods, community organizations, and older-adult resources preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach throughout Ward 2 to connect older adults with congregate dining, nutrition services, and community resources.
  • Engage older residents who are not currently participating in DACL-funded programs and connect them with appropriate services.
  • Represent Iona at community events, health fairs, senior centers, faith communities, and neighborhood gatherings.
  • Build relationships with diverse and underserved communities.
  • Support outreach to individuals with limited English proficiency in accordance with Iona’s Language Access Policy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach contacts, activities, and referrals.
  • Support outreach efforts required under the Ward 2 Lead Agency grant.
  • Provide flexible coverage at Ward 2 community dining sites.
  • Assist with participant sign-ins, meal service, activities, and site operations.
  • Complete required attendance and meal-service documentation.
  • Distribute menus, activity calendars, and program materials.
  • Report participant concerns or site needs to program leadership.
  • Maintain familiarity with Ward 2 program sites to support seamless coverage.
  • Submit outreach activity logs and coverage reports.
  • Participate in outreach planning meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with DACL outreach reporting requirements.
  • Attend required Iona orientations, trainings, and program meetings.
