About The Position

The YMCA of the National Capital Region is seeking an Outreach and Communications Support Worker for a full-time contract position until March 31, 2027. This role is crucial for promoting and communicating employment and newcomer programs to diverse communities. The successful candidate will develop outreach materials, manage communications, and assist with engagement initiatives, working closely with program teams to enhance visibility, strengthen partnerships, and support participant engagement. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field (e.g., communications, marketing, social services)
  • Fluent in English, French and other languages considered an asset
  • Experience in outreach and community engagement
  • Experience managing social media, content creation, and digital communications to enhance program visibility
  • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly newcomers
  • Knowledge of employment services and/or newcomer programs
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other digital communication tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills is essential
  • High level of judgment
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of activities, outcomes, and evaluation data
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Applicants must have reliable access to a vehicle for transportation to outreach events.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.
  • Annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and distribution of outreach materials to promote employment and newcomer programs.
  • Supporting communication efforts by managing social media updates, newsletters, and website content for all employment and newcomer programs.
  • Helping coordinate outreach activities, including community events, information sessions, and partner engagement.
  • Assisting in tracking outreach efforts and gathering feedback to improve engagement strategies.
  • Providing administrative support to ensure smooth communication between program teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Capture and communicate impactful stories from clients, partners, and programs (e.g., success stories, testimonials, event highlights) to promote services, increase engagement, and demonstrate program outcomes.
