Requirements

Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician in an established veterinary practice
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and basic veterinary nursing principles
Experience with blood draws
Experience with IV catheter placement
Experience with medication administration
Experience with radiographs and proper patient positioning
Experience with in-house laboratory testing
Experience with humane patient restraint
Experience with vaccine and preventive-care protocols
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for assistance
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute ideas
Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians and other members of the medical team
Genuine compassion for animals and commitment to providing exceptional patient care

CVT graduate from an AVMA-accredited program preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians with outpatient examinations, treatments, and procedures
Obtain and document accurate patient histories and vital signs
Perform blood draws and place intravenous catheters
Collect, prepare, and process diagnostic laboratory samples
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian
Perform and assist with in-house laboratory testing
Take and properly position patients for diagnostic radiographs
Provide appropriate and humane patient restraint
Assist with wound care, treatments, and other outpatient procedures
Prepare examination and treatment areas
Provide compassionate and professional client education
Explain medications, home-care instructions, follow-up recommendations, and preventive-care protocols
Assist with patient discharges and ensure clients understand their pets' care plans
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area
Monitor medical supplies and equipment and communicate inventory needs
Follow established medical, safety, sanitation, and patient-care protocols
Work collaboratively with veterinarians and the entire medical team to provide excellent patient care
Assist with other veterinary technician responsibilities as needed
