The Outpatient Receptionist is responsible for managing high-volume incoming calls, screening callers, taking messages, and directing them to the appropriate personnel or department. This role ensures professionalism while maintaining excellent customer service and providing routine information. The receptionist must uphold the privacy of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA. They will welcome on-site patients and visitors, determine the nature of their business, and ensure all policies are followed. This position also involves assisting in the resolution of complaints, independently managing requests and inquiries, and responding rapidly and appropriately to complaints, initiating de-escalation, remedies, and resolutions, or elevating to the appropriate person. Additional clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and photocopying are expected, along with maintaining a neat and orderly work area and lobby. The receptionist will attend required meetings, participate in committees as requested, and maintain established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control. They will also implement job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Code of Ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
