About The Position

MUSC Black River Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Outpatient Physical Therapist. This position involves evaluating, administering, and directing therapeutic procedures as prescribed by a referring practitioner. The role includes establishing and reassessing patient goals, documenting progress, and communicating with patients, families, peers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care. The Physical Therapist will evaluate and treat patients recovering from various conditions, developing treatment plans using methods such as exercises, stretching, hands-on therapy, and equipment. Collaboration with physicians, case managers, and insurance adjusters is also a key aspect of the role. This position is in an outpatient care setting and requires the ability to care for patients of all ages. The role may involve supervising physical therapy assistants, aides, and athletic trainers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school
  • New graduates acceptable.
  • South Carolina Board Certified / Eligible
  • Current Driver’s License
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, administers and directs administration of therapeutic procedures utilized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as prescribed by a referring practitioner.
  • Establishes goals of physical therapy and re-assesses patient’s progress at regular, timely intervals, supporting findings with appropriate documentation.
  • Communicates with patients, families, peers, and other professionals as needed to provide continuity of care.
  • Evaluates and treats patients recovering from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments.
  • Establishes treatment plans and treats patients using a variety of methods, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment to ease patients' pain and help them recover.
  • Works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and insurance adjusters.
  • Documents and reports on patients' progress.
  • May supervise physical therapy assistants, aides, and athletic trainers.
