About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking an Outpatient Pharmacy Technician to join their team. This role involves assisting a Licensed Pharmacist with various tasks including prescription data entry, insurance verification, prescription filling, cashier duties, medication ordering, and general pharmacy organization with a focus on inventory control. The hospital is a full-service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center, serving as an anchor for healthcare access in Brooklyn. Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Must be a registered certified pharmacy technician through New York State
• Minimal 2 years recent experience in retail pharmacy setting
• Strong phone skills
• Highly motivated
• Team player with strong personal and communication skills
• Excellent attendance at previous or in current work environment
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

• 10 years experience or greater as a Pharmacy Technician in a busy chain pharmacy
• Lead pharmacy technician in a retail chain environment
• 2 years or greater experience in a Specialty care pharmacy

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enter prescriptions
• Answers, Resolves and triages inbound inquiries
• Understanding of 3rd party insurances and follow through of insurance related issues
• Resolves insurance related issues and assists patients with various forms of financial assistance
• Professional filling of prescriptions (right medication, right dosage, right amount)
• Identifies medications requiring special storage and/or handling such as hazardous medications and/or refrigerated medications
• Identify and assembling supplies necessary for selected medications such as sharps containers, needles/syringes, alcohol swabs, band-aids
• Prepares medication for delivery to patients and departments
• Communicates directly with patients over the phone to assist them in the awareness of their medications
• Inventory Control (maintaining a lean inventory)
• Receiving and unpacking daily order and maintenance of stock
• Ordering medications and supplies using applicable technology
• Actively participates in process improvement timelines initiatives
• Cashier functions
• Provide outbound therapy/medication adherence check ups
• Assists with transition of care projects as directed (delivery of medications)
• Other duties as assigned
