About The Position

Following established policies and procedures, Pharmacy Intern 1 performs technical, distributive, and administrative duties. This individual may receive, sort, compound, processes and prepares medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist. As the intern progresses, and demonstrates an increase in ability, the preceptor will grant increased responsibility. Other duties as assigned. The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin regional health network is a partnership between Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin supporting a shared mission of patient care, innovation, medical research and education. Our health network operates eastern Wisconsin's only academic medical center and adult Level I Trauma center engaged in thousands of clinical trials and studies. The Froedtert & MCW health network, which includes ten hospitals, nearly 2,000 physicians and more than 45 health centers and clinics draw patients from throughout the Midwest and the nation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Accepted to a doctor of pharmacy program at a degree granting institution or enrolled in their first year of a doctor of pharmacy program at a degree granting institution.
  • Must complete a competency checklist within three months of completing orientation and training sessions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other health care professionals and patients.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to optimize patient care and minimize adverse outcomes.
  • Application for Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required by hire date and must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Staff hired into this role prior to 3/31/23 must have applied for Wisconsin registration by 3/31/23 and have until 3/31/24 to obtain registration.
