United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an Outpatient Palliative Care Physician to join their established team in Johnson City, New York. This role focuses on outpatient palliative care, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, consisting of 80% outpatient clinic work, 10% in-patient consultations, and 10% administrative duties. The physician will be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team including physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, and an Administrative Director. Responsibilities include assisting the Administrative Director in developing new outpatient initiatives, enhancing service lines, and improving operational workflows. The role involves contributing to strategic planning, program expansion, and evaluation of palliative care clinical models, including design, business modeling, productivity, quality, experience, and equity. The physician will also participate in regulatory readiness, quality improvement projects, and the development of clinical best-practice guidelines. Direct patient care involves providing comprehensive outpatient palliative consultations, evaluations, and follow-up visits, performing physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, identifying clinical problems, and formulating evidence-based care plans. Management of complex symptoms using pharmacologic and integrative approaches, leading goals-of-care discussions, and advance care planning are key components. The position also includes a clinical educator role, instructing and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows. Participation in clinical research activities may also be required.
