About The Position

This position provides support for benign hematology, including sickle cell disease, hemophilia, clotting disorders, and iron deficiency. Responsibilities encompass assisting in clinic operations, obtaining prior authorizations for imaging, medications, and referrals, scheduling clinic and advanced imaging appointments, and performing phlebotomy. The role requires close collaboration with the hematology infusion department. Additionally, the coordinator will review laboratory and imaging results with providers, communicate recommendations to patients, manage incoming and outgoing patient calls, and participate in ongoing professional education. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to fostering a safe, collaborative, and patient-centered care environment, supporting clinic coverage, daily operations, and direct patient care to ensure seamless continuity across service areas.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience.
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

  • Provide leadership within the practice, supporting nursing and support staff and maintaining a safe, effective care environment.
  • Deliver holistic, patient‑centered care, including triage, care coordination, education, and follow‑up.
  • Serve as primary nursing resource and liaison for patient caseload, coordinating with physicians and external services.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, and all care team members.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Support department operations, safety, regulatory preparation, and practice improvements.
  • Educate patients, families, students, and new staff; may precept and assist with staff development.
  • Promote a compassionate, patient‑focused experience and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
