About The Position

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse RN specializes in administering medications and fluids through intravenous (IV) lines. Infusion nurses administer medications, fluids, and blood products directly into patients’ veins, closely monitoring them for reactions and complications during and after infusions. This includes inserting, maintaining, and removing various types of IV lines, such as peripheral IV lines, central lines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines). They educate patients and caregivers about the infusion process, potential side effects, and home care if needed. Infusion nurses work with a team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Valid RN license in the state of Connecticut.
  • 1 year of experience in IV Infusion or Ambulatory Infusion sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of medical/surgical nursing experience in an acute inpatient setting.
  • BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
