About The Position

This position provides supervision, technical leadership and management in the conceptual development and maintenance of automated hospital systems directly controlled by the Mental Health Hospitals, Forensics Services Division, and Outpatient Program. Through the supervision of assigned Data Management professionals, the position evaluates technical issues, consults with team members and customers, formulates decisions and executes solutions. The position is directly involved in the design and build of the electronic health record’s (EHR) Outpatient Program, including the design of clinical workflows within the EHR, order management, laboratory builds, and additional interfacing builds for the Outpatient Program. The position manages system upgrades and maintenance, performs system analyses, and assigns tasks to other Data Management professionals. The position oversees the development of EHR functionality for use by the Outpatient Program, as well as the development of routine and ad hoc reporting mechanisms necessary to meet the Hospitals and Outpatient Program’s business needs, and serves as the lead technical liaison between the Health Information Team, Governor’s Office Information Technology Team, other State agencies, as well as the EHR vendor and related sub-contractors.

Requirements

Eight (8) years total of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position including: a minimum of five (5) years of working hands-on directly with major EHR platforms/systems in their back end, medical records workflow or clinical informatics, and, a minimum of two (2) years supervising others and running a team of technical individuals OR A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to eight (8) years including: a minimum of five (5) years of working hands-on directly with major EHR platforms/systems in their back end, medical records workflow or clinical informatics and, a minimum of two (2) years supervising others and running a team of technical individuals.
State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, Release of Information (ROI) guidelines, and state/federal health data privacy regulations
Understanding of clinical documentation improvement (CDI), revenue cycle management (RCM), and data governance.
Back end experience with oracle EHR (BEHR)
