Under supervision, submits required necessary documentation to insurance companies in order to obtain required prior authorization for patient care and/or treatment in addition to performing basic registration functions for the capture of pertinent demographic and insurance/payer information as well as scheduling activities. This role involves basic patient registration knowledge to effectively schedule appointments, collect and enter accurate patient demographic information, select correct patient account information, and validate the necessity of authorizations for specific appointment types. Incumbents are expected to gain specific knowledge of the importance of patient and insurance demographic information and payment options. They will be responsible for prioritizing pending consults, processing them timely, ensuring accurate insurance information and authorizations, and utilizing resources for swift approvals to ensure patient safety and continuity of care. Additionally, responsibilities include answering phones, directing calls, and scheduling appointments for multiple physicians, providers, specialties, clinics, and locations.
