About The Position

The Outpatient Coder IV Auditor codes hospital accounts and audits coding results. The role requires extensive knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and CPT coding, as well as knowledge of professional and facility charging for emergency coding, injections, and infusions. The position also supports strategic planning aligned with health system and revenue cycle goals, identifies opportunities, manages coding and coding-outcome risks, helps set priorities, and takes initiative based on knowledge and goals. Basic math and statistical calculations are required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive coding and auditing experience in Coding and/or HIM is preferred.
• CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification is required.
• Knowledge of documentation regulations and requirements related to ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and CPT coding regulatory requirements.
• Experience coding or auditing emergency department accounts with professional and facility charging, as well as injections and infusions.
• Detailed knowledge of revenue cycle functions and relational metrics.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coding staff and other ancillary departments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with 3M and EPIC is strongly desired.
• Experience with MS DRGs and APR DRGs is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive coding and auditing experience in Coding and/or HIM is preferred.

Responsibilities
