About The Position

The Outgoing Referrals Coordinator manages and coordinates referrals to external providers and healthcare facilities, ensuring appointments align with provider diagnoses and treatment plans. This role is responsible for obtaining and tracking required medical records, maintaining accurate referral documentation, scheduling outside referrals, and completing assigned EMR tasks, including telephone encounters, actions, and complete Jelly Beans in eClinicalWorks (eCW). The coordinator serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, and external offices, utilizing strong communication, organizational, and computer skills to support continuity of care, patient safety, and efficient referral processing. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to assist team members and support departmental operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Insurance billing and/or coding experience preferred
  • Experience with eclinical works preferred

Responsibilities

  • Effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if the appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider
  • Coordinate with referring providers and offices to obtain needed medical records prior to the patient’s appointment.
  • Maintain ongoing referral tracking and documentation to support team awareness and patient safety.
  • Exhibit an ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting and can be flexible
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as computer/electronic medical record systems skills
  • Complete interoffice tasks including telephone encounters, actions, and other EMR work, as assigned.
  • Complete Jelly Beans in eClinicalWorks (eCW) as required.
  • Schedules/Responsible for outside referrals to other practices
  • Assist other department members as needed and complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assists other members of the department as needed
